Shatrughan Sinha Grabs Eyeballs With Antics While Shah Rukh Khan Receives Award
Shah Rukh was honoured with the 4th Yash Chopra National Memorial Award on Saturday night but all eyes were on Shatrughan Sinha, thanks to his peculiar behaviour
Shah Rukh Khan is used to being the centre of attention wherever he goes. But an award function on Saturday night, proved to be an exception, thanks to Shatrughan Sinha.
The superstar was at the 4th Yash Chopra National Memorial Award. The award was instituted by philanthropist Dr. T Subbarami Reddy in association with Anu and Shashi Ranjan, in memory of the late Yash Chopra.
Sinha was among the veteran stars at the event and when Reddy invited him on stage to say a few words about Shah Rukh Khan, he shocked everyone by saying: Baad Mein Bolunga Abhi Nahi.
Later, after Jaya Prada and Simi Garewal had given their speech, Sinha took to the stage. And then Shatrughan Sinha’s antics continued. Yash Chopra’s widow Pam was in the crowd and he addressed her as Prem Chopra and then went on to mispronounce Reddy as Mr Roddy.
Then Shatrughan Sinha gave the speech as promised and said that he has always stood up for the Bollywood fraternity including Shah Rukh.
“When people criticise Shah Rukh Khan I stand up for him. I call him and ask him if he needs help. When my friends from the film fraternity need help, I am the first one to stand up for them,” he said.
Naturally, eyebrows were raised and whispers started emanating from the crowd. We are sure that Shatrughan Sinha said all of it in jest and SRK surely seemed to think so.
When he took to the stage and was joined by Rekha and Pam Chopra, he shared his fond memories of Yash Chopra.
“With Yashji I started with a film called Darr in which I was a bad boy. I was killing and misbehaving with people even without being on drugs and that was really, really intense. And I remember Yashji met me and said, ‘ Tu jab tak lover boy play nahi karega tera kuch nahi hoga’. I did not want to be a
lover boy as I was not good with romance and I don't look good enough. But he kept on telling me. So, when Yash Chopra tells you something, you follow it. And it's evident now... He single-handedly made my career,” said Shah Rukh.
